Welcome to the CBISMS website...

Welcome to all students. CBISMS was started in 1972 when I was faced with my own health problems. It was from that time on that I began my exciting journey into alternative, complementary, personalized and integrative medicine. At first, I was prescribed tetracycline, which I later learned was like a nuclear bomb as it almost wiped out all the good bugs in my system. My first set of praises actually go out to an Asian school friend who interested me in the Martial Arts and the well known Chinese Herb called Ginseng. These were the tools that I used to strengthen my body and put acne and asthma away for ever. Eventually I was strong enough to compete at the international level in full contact Tae Kwon Do to finally gain a Canadian light weight title as a Gold Medal Winner. This was a pivotal point in my life because I quickly realized there was more to health than just simply consuming chemicals by mouth to fix what I later learned was simply an ecological problem in my system that had resulted in acne. Over the many years of working in hospitals and clinics, I have met many people who also share this same passion for medical knowledge. Unfortunately, many of you were not as fortunate as I have been to graduate from a recognized university or medical school. But I know there are many of you who still want to learn this beautiful art and science. Here is your opportunity to finally earn a title that can set you on a new healthy path and career. Through CBISMS, I bring to you an opportunity to learn for yourself how to take care of your own body and those you care about. You will gain an understanding of the field of medicine as it should be taught, which is fun, experiential, and with ease through online learning and clinic internship. Later on you will be able to use your training to help others in your own clinical setting.
Canadian/US Grade 12 diploma or British O level is required for entrance into the program. All other high school graduates will need to send their transcripts to an independent assessment agency to verify Canadian/US or British equivalency. Advanced standing may be considered for previously trained practitioners of Holistic Health Practitioner and Registered Massage Therapists. Foreign medical practitioners may seek direct entry into the Program.

All students will have access to online tutoring or telephone tutoring from a licensed physician and medical practitioner. Students will require a access to a computer with Internet in order to view lecture note material through a secured password system. Lecture notes and course content are subject to changes. Learning aids and supplies will be shipped to you after completion of enrollment. The Registered Clinical Nutritional Consultant program is not delivered with lecture notes. Instead, a research based, problem based learning method is used. This method delivers the program with comprehensive course content and a list of reference material to facilitate learning. Medical science is continually changing and we feel that it is best to not use lecture notes which will age with time and become outdated. Textbooks are continually updated and we feel these are your best resource material. The course content will be structured in a manner that will provide you with all the topics that you should be competent with for the program. The list of references has been carefully researched to give you most of the information that you would need to pass your exam and become a competent practitioner. When you feel that you are ready to sit for the exam, you will need to contact CBISMS to arrange for your exam date and you will be issued a new exam password in order to log onto a computer which will be situated at a designated exam center near you. At the examining center, you will log onto CBISMS website and then enter your password in order to download the exam from the computer. Your exam will then be scored and you will immediately know your result upon completion of the exam. Upon receiving a passing grade, your credential will then be mailed to you. If a student fails for the first time, they will be given an opportunity to re-write. CBISMS has arranged secured testing sites for you to sit for your exam. You will be monitored and there are no books, or personal electronic gadgets allowed at the examining center. You will need to bring some form of a government ID before you sit for your exam. Under special consideration students may seek full time classroom and clinic experience for additional fees.
All students can apply for liability coverage. CBISMS will provide you with a current list of providers upon graduation. All students will have an opportunity to gain real clinic experience and/or hospital experience in a state/ provincially licensed medical institute located in a major city closest to you. CBISMS has acquired privileges in those institutes for our graduates. This list is available to graduates only. There is one week required to complete the internship for clinic experience. Your tuition costs will already pay for this. Further clinic training is available for those who require it for an additional cost of $100.00 per day.

This basic program requires 2300 hours to complete in order to become registered in most jurisdictions. Licensing and registration opens more opportunities for becoming listed as a provider by insurance companies.
CBISMS welcomes all transfer and regular students. In order to graduate from our programs, students must satisfy the regulatory requirements for the total hours which must be spent in tuition and/or clinic practicum. The basic program requires 2300 hours to complete the program which includes one week of clinic practicum. These are minimum requirements. If a student is able to receive transfer credit towards a CBISMS course, then that student will spend less time in tuition and more time in clinic practicum in order to satisfy the total graduation requirements for that certificate. All fees still remain the same for all aspects of the program. In other words, receiving a transfer of credit does not reduce or increase your fees. In order to receive credit for previous course work, a student must on a separate piece of paper, outline or photocopy a course description with the name and publishing details of the text book. Students may also substitute some clinic hours for a research paper or a case analysis of several actual patients with prior approval from the school.
Graduates of CBISMS programs are allowed to use their designation in most states and provinces or countries. Graduates will have opportunities to obtain continuing medical education credits through national and international holistic medical conferences.
